Organic farming (or biological agriculture) is an agricultural system free of any synthetic substance (chemical fertilizer, pesticide, herbicide, etc.).

Officially recognized in France since 1981, organic farming is a specific yield method, an ecologically and economically balanced approach to land, farming and man.

This modern approach to agriculture is based on sustainable management of soil fertility.

“It’s an agriculture based on observation and laws of life. Plants are not directly fed with water soluble fertilizer but with the living forms from the soil which develop and provide plants with the whole needs. (C. AUBERT: l'agriculture biologique)

The Val de Loire region now includes 120 farms involved into organic wine growing with a bio license or about to obtain it.

A few principles of wine-making process:

  • Limitation of sulphurous components (S02)
  • Preference given to natural yeast from grape skin (this yeast is destroyed by pesticide in conventional farming)
  • Chaptalization and acidification are limited or prevented
  • Filtration or clarifying are limited or even prevented
Our motto: “Preserve the land and produce wine with character”.
